Port of Spain, Trinidad (July 5th 2006) – At the Annual General Meeting of the Trinidad Hotels Restaurants and Tourism Association held on Wednesday 5th July 2006, the new Board of Directors for the 2006-2007 term was elected.
In his speech, outgoing President Ernest Littles stated that “If we take a moment to reflect on the past year for the Trinidad tourism industry and its further development, we would have to conclude that, while the results achieved in certain areas may not have measured up to our overall aspirations, on balance, we have made real and substantive progress, both as a vibrant and influential industry Association and as an evolving tourism industry that matters and significantly contributes to the national dialogue for the development of Trinidad and Tobago.”

The Trinidad Hotels Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA) was formed to be the main private sector representational body for the industry performing a pivotal role between the policy makers (Government), policy implementers Tourism Development Company (TDC) and the private sector. Members of the Association comprise hotels, restaurants and companies that provide goods and services to the industry.
