Dive into Tobago's Underwater Carnival
Staking its claim as one of the top dive destinations in the world, Tobago will host its first-ever dive festival, titled the Tobago Underwater Carnival, from June 11 to 18.
Hosted by the Tobago House of Assembly’s Tourism Division in collaboration with the Tourism Development Company Limited and the Association of Tobago Dive Operators, the Tobago Underwater Carnival is designed to showcase the explosion of marine life that can be found off the pristine island’s shores.
“The dive festival is something we are really looking forward to,” said Warren Solomon, Tobago’s Director of Tourism. “It will encompass underwater photography competitions, seminars on various aspects of dive and of course parties.” The social aspect of diving, he added, is what makes the sport exciting to dive enthusiasts.
For both divers and spectators there will be a range of exciting events and activities, including daily dives off the northern and southern parts of Tobago, amateur photography competitions –both above and underwater, parties, and family pursuits.
Showcasing the destination’s rich and diverse underwater eco-system and one-of-a-kind aquatic treasures, including a multitude of colourful reefs and marine creatures, the festival has something for everyone from expert divers to novices.
Registration for the Tobago Underwater Carnival is US$75 and includes access to event seminars, discounts off select land-based tours, restaurants, free entry into the amateur underwater photography contest and dive package specials.
