Trinidad and Tobago Wins Gold at Taste of the Caribbean 2011

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Culinary Team once again proved they are best in the region by bringing home the Team of the Year title for the fifth time at the Taste of the Caribbean competition– an achievement unrivalled by any other country in the history of the event.
Led by team captain Raymond Joseph, Trinidad and Tobago also took top honours in the following categories:
Chef of the Year Competition - Gold Medal - Devon Joseph
Bartender Competition - Mystery Bar Category - Gold Medal - Danyiel Jones
Bartender Competition - Rum Category - First Place Winner - Danyiel Jones
Bartender Competition - Best Cocktail - First Place Winner - Danyiel Jones
Bartender Competition - Vodka Category - First Place Winner - Danyiel Jones
Junior Chef of the Year Competition - Silver Medal - Ryan Bailey
Pastry Chef of the Year Competition - Silver Medal - Cheryl Shortt-Charles
Seafood Mystery Basket Competition - Bronze Medal - Adrian Cumberbatch
Beef Mystery Basket Competition - Bronze Medal - Jeremy Lovell
Organized by the Caribbean Hotel Tourism Association the competition was held in Miami from June 22 to 26 and attracted 16 regional teams including Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St Lucia and US Virgin Islands. Each team prepared and presented food and drink that were judged on taste, execution of skills and presentation.
