TDC and THA to provide Management Training for Tobago Tour Guides
An Association Management Workshop for Tobago Certified Tour Guides will be held from October 28 to 30, at the Muscovado Restaurant in Tobago as part of an ongoing initiative to enhance the quality of Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism products and services.
Facilitated by Ladi Franklin, a management executive with over 20 years experience in the public and private sectors, the workshop is aimed at strengthening the representative role of the Tobago Certified Tour Guides Association, its overall management capacity and ability to offer, and improve, services available to members.
An initiative of the Tourism Development Company Limited (TDC) and Tobago House of Assembly (THA), the workshop is one in a series of developmental programmes under the Small Tourism Enterprises Project (STEP) which targets the owners, managers and staff of small approved accommodation - 75 rooms or less - and tourism associations such as tour operators, tour guides and tourist transport providers. Young people interested in pursuing a career in the industry can also access information.
In addition to technical support and training, STEP provides a fully equipped Resource Centre at the TDC’s Maritime Plaza, Barataria headquarters where computers with internet access, up-to-date industry information and training resources are available.
