T&T travel agents sell Land of Soca
Barbados Nation
TOURISM OFFICIALS FROM Trinidad and Tobago were in Barbados for a roadshow last Thursday which showcased all the twin-island republic had to offer.
With the slogan Small Country Big Passion, representatives from hotels, restaurants and tour companies presented the Soca Warriors football team and invited all Caribbean nationals to the twin-island republic.
Leading the charge was Maxximus Dan who showed he was a real soca warrior. His performance left the audience at Hilton Barbados clapping and singing along, and more than ready to share Trinidad's passion for the game of soccer. Afterwards he took them on the soca train by way of a congaline.
Trinidad also shared some of its Indian culture with a performance by the Shiv Shakti Dancers.
Barbados is the fourth highest departure point for Trinidad and Tobago where most Barbadians go to shop. However, officials there want Barbadians and other Caribbean nationals to know that there is much more to offer, and very soon the face of Port-of-Spain will change with its twin-towers structure, the Port-of- Spain International Waterfront Project, which will house five-star hotels and a conference centre among other things.
Not only will it help to enhance the tourism product in Trinidad but it will also look to make the country the meetings and conventions capital of the Southern Caribbean and the business centre of the sub-region.
A number of special weekend packages are being offered for shopping and also for nightlife. A new marketing campaign is also soon to be launched.
