Scholarships available for Tourism Professionals and Tourism Students

THE CARIBBEAN Hotel Foundation (CHF) of the Caribbean Hotel Association invites hospitality employees, educators and students wishing to pursue studies in the tourism field to apply for its 2007 academic scholarships and professional development grants.

As part of its mission, CHF provides people throughout the Caribbean region with awareness of the hospitality industry’s many career opportunities along with technical and professional development assistance. Scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $5,000 USD and cover:

Academic Scholarships
(a) Full-time study
(b) Part time study

Professional Development Scholarships
(a) For industry employees
(b) Co-funded summer courses

Grants to Teachers
(a) Further education
(b) Industry work experience

In addition, all applicants are considered for higher value corporate scholarships. Among other criteria, applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to the industry and the potential for future success.
In 2005, the foundation awarded 44 scholarships, covering 17 Caribbean islands and totaling US$126,000 (representing a 100 per cent increase over the previous year), out of 125 applications.
Completed applications must reach the Caribbean Hotel Association by Thursday, 15 March.
