TDC hosts Caribbean Road Show
The Tourism Development Company Limited, in conjunction with the Trinidad and Tobago Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA), recently hosted its annual Caribbean Road Show. For the first leg of the Road Show the contingent visited Barbados on May 31st and held a trade exhibition and cocktail reception titled “Come for The Shopping, Stay for the Fun”. This was designed to expose Barbadians to the full extent of what Trinidad and Tobago has to offer as a destination. On June 1 a business lunch and seminar titled “Trinidad and Tobago – The Place to Do Business” designed for Barbadians desirous of creating working partnerships with the twin island republic especially for meetings and conferences was held.
President of TDC, Dr. James Hepple, explained that the Road Show featured the products and services of several major hotels, guesthouses, and main shopping attractions in Trinidad and Tobago. He said: “Trinidad and Tobago continues to be one of the preferred destinations for Barbadians and there is increasing potential for shared business partnerships between us. We therefore wanted to expose Barbadians to what Trinidad and Tobago has to offer beyond their usual shopping experience and particularly to present it as an alternative destination for meetings and conferences.”
The trade exhibition was presented at Accra Beach Hotel and Resort and persons of the travel trade in attendance were exposed to some of the cultural offerings of Trinidad and Tobago with soca performances by Kes and Nadia Batson; chutney dancers, the Clico Shiv Shakti Dance Group and pulsating rhythms from renowned pannist Darryl Reid. There were also opportunities to win exciting vacation packages and other giveaways. The lunch seminar was held on June 1 at Champers Wine Bar and Restaurant for specially invited business executives.
