Tour Operators receive Association Management Training
Eleven local tour operators received a boost in their administration skills following a three-day Association Management Workshop hosted by the Tourism Development Company Ltd (TDC). The workshop is the second in a series of developmental programmes, hosted by the TDC, designed to enhance Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism products and services.
Aimed at strengthening the management capacity of industry associations, the workshop was held at the TDC’s Barataria office from October 19 to 21.
Facilitated by Ladi Franklin, a management executive with 20 years experience in finance, marketing, human resources and general management in the private and public sectors, the workshop is part of the Small Tourism Enterprises Project.
Re-launched under the TDC in 2007, the programme has successfully provided relevant industry training while enhancing the skills of persons employed in the tourism industry. Targeting the owners, managers and staff of approved accommodation properties - of 75 rooms or less - and tourism associations, such as tour operators, tour guides and tourist transport providers, STEP offers technical support and training.
Implemented in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999, STEP is a regionally recognised project.
