Product Development

Responsibilities:
TDC’s role in product development is primarily one of working with other related agencies on the coordination, prioritisation, monitoring, planning and execution of their initiatives. Essentially, the TDC will be a catalyst for improvement, by interacting with various organisations to give tourism priority. This involves the enhancement of tourism products; standardisation of tourism infrastructure and amenities; rationalising the ownership of sites and attractions; executing a local awareness campaign; training and more.

Specific Programmes and Tasks include:

• The redesign and reconstruction of the Maracas Beach facility as well as upgrade of beach facilities located at Las Cuevas, Manzanilla and Vessigny.
• Development of the La Brea Pitch Lake as a tourist attraction including the upgrade of the on-site visitor facility
• Development of eco-tourism and cultural tourism products.
• Industry training for the tourism sector
• Awareness initiatives in the form of advertising and public relations initiatives: lectures, competitions, distribution of collateral material and hosting educational events such as the Tourism Park
• Training and dispatch of “city ambassadors”, similar to city guides situated within the capital
