Quality Control and Standards

Responsibilities:
The Quality Control and Standards unit is responsible for establishing and implementing standards for the development and maintenance of tourism infrastructure and amenities. Establishing and implementing standards for all identified tourist sites and attractions. Developing and enhancing the tourism products (overall responsibility of the Product Development unit).

This unit handles the following projects:

• Development of standards for the industry
• The implementation of the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification Programme
• Inspections and audit of tourism operators in the accommodations sector - such as hotels, guesthouses and host homes
• Safety and security as it pertains to visitors including HIV/AIDS, HACCP
• Industry Training
• Public Awareness - lectures, presentations and career day fairs
