Quality Control and Standards

The Quality Control and Standards Unit is responsible for:
• Establishing and implementing standards for the development and maintenance
of tourism infrastructure and amenities.
• Establishing and implementing standards for all identified tourist sites and attractions.
• Developing and enhancing the tourism products (overall responsibility of the Product Development Unit).

This unit handles the following projects:
• Development of standards for the industry
• The implementation of the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification Programme
• Inspections and audit of tourism operators in the accommodations sector -
such as hotels, guesthouses and host homes
• Safety and security as it pertains to visitors including HIV/AIDS, HACCP
• Industry Training
• Public Awareness – lectures, presentations and career day fairs
